Winford and Charlette Taylor recognized the call of God on their
lives to serve several years ago. They served as deacons at New Life
Temple Church under Pastor Ralph Godfrey, Sr. for many years. There
they learned much under Pastor Godfrey’s leadership about God
and ministry.
In 1998 having a desire to move forward in ministry they enrolled
in Solid Rock Bible College, an extension of Gulf Coast Bible College
and Seminary where they studied under Dr. Ronald Dickinson. In June
2000 they graduated with Bachelor Degrees in Religion/Biblical Studies.
Later, in August 2003 Charlette earned a second Bachelor Degree in
Theology from Life Christian University.
In 2004 God began to speak to them about moving on in ministry. In
March 2005 God confirmed His Word in a prophetic message through the
ministry of Steve Sampson. After much prayer and talking with Pastor
Godfrey they were released to start Omega Christian Center in December
2005.
Several friends and former members of New Life Temple were released
along with them to start this new work: Steve and Karen (Tracey) Hunter,
Kim Hunter, Elayne Hunter, Kevin and Carolyn Wright, Donna Wallace,
Janice Shaw and Phillip Williams (JEI-R). These along with Millie Thompson,
Brady Cunningham, Charles Alexander, Marcus Pope, the Taylor children,
Marcus and Brandy Sherman, Brian and Brent Taylor; family members,
Nevora Johnson and Trenise Smith made up the founding members of Omega
Christian Center.
Twenty-One Members strong, Omega was off and running. Friends of the
ministry helped us prepare for our first service. Martin Collins of
New Life Temple was instrumental in helping to select sound equipment
and musical instruments. Dave Frederick of Solid Rock Church designed
our church logo, website and stationary.
On January 22, 2006 Omega Christian Center and the OCC Music Ministry
under the leadership of Minister Steve Hunter held her first service
at the Clarion Hotel in Blue Ash. We held a Wednesday night bible
class at the Clarion from January through September 2006 and taught
a financial management series and a foundational course. In October
2006 the bible study was moved to a home study group. Friday nights
at the Taylor’s
house was “the place” to be. Starting with an hour of
prayer, followed by music ministry rehearsal and then a great time
of fellowship around the kitchen table, God began to knit us together
as we got better acquainted. Over the next twelve months, God continued
to add members to the Omega family.

“I have planted, Apollos
watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that
planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth
the increase. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one:
and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own
labour. For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry,
ye are God's building.”
(1 Corinthians 3:6-9)
